About Me!

My name is Kathleen and I was born and raised in Hilliard, Ohio! I grew up with 2 loving parents and three CrAzY brothers whom I attribute my very competitive nature to.   I started playing soccer at the young age of 4 and never looked back!

Years later after countless practices, games, and out of town tournaments, all of my hard work paid off when I received a scholarship to continue playing at the University of Dayton (go Flyers!) while studying chemical engineering.  My love of fitness SKYROCKETED once I joined the team.  From pre-season to afternoon trainings, home games to away games, I was hooked.  Playing for UD will always hold a special place in my heart, especially my teammates, my coaches, the field, and our success.

After graduation I took a job in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a process engineer, but it felt temporary 🙁  Fast forward a few years, I got married to my amazing husband Ben,

moved back home to Ohio, and bought our first house (talk about an eventful couple of years!).  Things were definitely falling into place, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t quite right.  I continued to work out on an almost daily basis, but my life did not feel completely fulfilled.  After days and weeks of contemplating, I took the plunge to get my personal training certification.  It was a HUGE leap of faith considering my degree in engineering, but I knew my love for fitness and the support of my husband would guide me through.

As if all of those changes weren’t enough, I found out I was pregnant!!  I knew if I didn’t get my certification before the baby arrived, it would never happen.  So in May of 2016 I earned my Certificate of Personal Training from ACE, while 6 months pregnant!  Pregnancy, of course, changed some things; like my ability to continue working out at the same intensity throughout those 40 weeks, the journey back after having my baby, and my timeline of putting my certificate to good use – but that’s okay!  I’m currently still working as an engineer and would love to start training clients throughout the week and weekends.

My personal philosophy is that fitness does not have to be a chore, expensive, or fancy.  I believe in keeping it fun, keeping it practical, and keeping it simple.  Just Keep it Simple Fitness (JustKISF) brings all of those ideas together.  Check out my blog entries for my thoughts and ideas on all things fitness!  I’ll also be putting together short workouts for you to follow along, and eventually will be looking to train individuals, small groups and teams.  I’d love to help you keep fitness simple.
